Marion Joan Schmitt was born on January 17, 1932, on 124th Street in Queens, NY. She was the daughter of William August Schmitt and Marguerite Agatha Brierton, the granddaughter of William Schmitt and Margaret Diehl, the granddaughter of Harry Joseph Brierton, Sr. and Margaret Jane McAnn, the great granddaughter of Stephen Schmitt and Amelia, and the great granddaughter of James Paul McAnn and Margaret Kiellian.

Marion attended city schools, including Franklin K. Lane High School, where she was later a teacher, and later graduated from Queens College. She also earned a Masters Degree in Education and a Doctorate, possibly in Philosphy.

Most of her early life was lived in Woodhaven, NY. About 1959, she purchased a home on Lowell Place in Baldwin, NY, where she lived for the remainder of her life, initially with her parents and sister Margaret Jane until 1963 when Margaret Jane married, with both parents until the death of William August in 1973, and with her mother, Marguerite, until she was hospitalized prior to her death in 1995.

Marion died on March 26, 2000, at North Shore University Hospital in Great Neck, New York, from complications of Cancer treatment. She is buried in a plot that has been owned for many years by the Brierton family at Holy Cross Cemetery in Brooklyn, NY.
